Critical Thinking

image_Critical_ThinkingThis online training course addresses aspects related to critical thinking and its utilization in System Operations and maintaining the reliability of Bulk Electric System. Topics covered in this course include: defining critical thinking, its application to system operations, components of effective reasoning, guidelines for critical thinking, keys for prioritizing, and principles related to time management.


Module Objectives:

  • Define critical thinking and its application to system operations
  • Identify the components of effective reasoning
  • Describe the guidelines for critical thinking
  • Identify the keys for prioritizing
  • Explain the principles of time management

Each lesson area in this course is culminated with a review and a quiz. Upon completion of the course, there is a final assessment that consists of 10 questions. Individuals must attain a passing grade of 70% on the final assessment in order to be awarded the appropriate NERC CEHs.


This class is intended for new operators as well as experienced personnel working in a real-time System Operation environment who have the responsibility to address and solve operational concerns and problems in maintaining the reliability of the Bulk Electric System or other operational areas.
